Catembe, Mozambique

Heidi came over to visit me over the weekend so we crossed over with the ferry to Catembe from Maputo and spent the time there watching the views of the ocean and the city.

Skiing in Sweden

Went skiing with daddy today. Lovely winter weather today, was surpriced to see the speed under his skiis compared to my, but found out my daddy had put glue under my skiis

Bollnäs-Tillberga 10-3

First match this season for me was against the Jumbo and ended with an easy win where Bollnäs had 3-0 already after 10 min. Before the game 'our' world champions Westh and Hellmyrs was celebrated (lower left corner). 

From Summer in CT to Winter in Bollnäs

Braai in Strand

Had a few friends (Andres, Tomas and Boroto) being in Cape Town so organized a braai to be able to meet with all of them before heading for Sweden on Tuesday. Apart from the Finnish/Spanish delegation being 5 hours late it was a nice day/evening :)

Certificate Ceremony, Chamanculo, Maputo

After 9 days intensive course it was time to wrap up and give the participants certificates. A couple of people were invited so that the students could present what they have been working on. To my surprise they had arranged cake and a gift for me. They also made a small animation where I get also a digital cake from them. Think they did a good job in drawing me where they got the necklace, beard and shorts right. The outcome of the storytelling exercise you can see at http://cs.joensuu.fi/~duveskog/EEPD/portuguese/

LWF Digital Storytelling training, Maputo

First day was mostly story sharing and selection of a story to focus on. Second day was plotting the story and drawing scenes and characters on paper. At the end of the section we started to work on digital drawings. So far it feels quite promissing to have some results by end of next week.

Eventful days in Cape Town

On Monday we drove to Langebaan for a visit at the famous Strandloper restaurant. A 10 course meal prepared on the beach over open fire was served where your knife and fork was a pair of mussel shells. Yesterday we visited the Two Oceans Aquarium at the waterfront before boarding the boat to the historical Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. As the weather was permitting we decided to also squeeze in a sunset visit to the top of table mountain, we were however not the only ones and got stuck on the mountain as we had to wait for hours to eventually catch the last cabin car down at 22:30.

New Year Celebrations Cape Town

Had a delicious dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant on New Years eve followed with joining the crowds to watch the pathetic fireworks at waterfront. The first day of the new year we spent at Kirstenbosch gardens listening to Mango Groove where everyone was dancing except the Swedes.
